Fiber optic cable working on 99.7% the speed of lightResearchers from University of South Hampton, England have successfully prepared a new kind of fiber optic cable in which data travels at 99.7% the speed of light. Through this new cable researchers have successfully transmitted data at an amazing speed of 73.7 Tera Bytes/ Sec which is a thousand times higher than latest available fiber optic cable.

The speed of light in space is one hundred and eighty-six miles/Sec. When passed through any matter speed of light decreases which largely depends on the type of meter used and the wavelength with which the light passes. Commonly in a fiber optic cable, made of glass, light travels 31 times slower than its original speed.
